How to preserve your gown: for brides

Have you thought about what you want to do with your gown after the wedding?
Will you be selling it or keeping it?

If you’re keeping it, to preserve for years to come, here are a few tips on how to do that while ensuring it remains beautiful.

You’re probably tempted to buy a garment bag (or use the one that came with your dress) and just hang it in the closet.
That is actually not the way to go. Hangers are no good for the gowns as this puts a ton of pressure on the gown.

The best way to go about preserving it, is to pack it in an acid free archival clothing box using a ton of ph-neutral tissue paper to protect the fabric.

You can use the tissue paper to stuff the bodice if needed and also to line the box itself with. Gently fold it when putting it into the box (you can see the best way to fold it in this blogpost).
Store the box away from humidity and direct sunlight. This should ensure your gown will look as amazing in 10 years as it did on your wedding day!
